My Fourth Blog

In this blog you will learn about Charles Person, Freedom Rider. He fought for equality and was not mentioned that much. That is why he is an unsung hero.He also helped change things that needed to be changed.

He wanted to fight for equality because he was not admitted to a school he applied for just because of his race. He was also not allowed in restaurants like many others because of the color of his skin. The man was always being discriminated against so he wanted to help change that. He also wanted to help his friends.

Charles wanted to gain freedom for everyone, he wanted freedom on buses where he could sit anywhere he wanted. He wanted to help change America. He accomplished seating freedom by helping to change bus laws, so he could sit anywhere and not get up for anyone.

Charles Person’s life has value because he stood up for what is right. and without him black people would be only allowed at the back of the bus and would have to get up for others. Not many people talk about the bus boycotts. Which makes it so not many people know what he and others did.

In conclusion The Freedom Riders of 1961 were not talked about as much as they should have which is why this blog is important. They helped make laws to help any black person who rides the bus sit where they wanted to.  It was also a very dangerous task to be a freedom rider,  as Charles Person stated, “You didn't know what you were going to encounter. You had night riders. You had hoodlums . . . You could be antagonized at any point in your journey.” Charles Person is an unsung hero.

  3. Charles Person has been through a lot. Discrimination is something I wish never happened but it happens to be part of history. Why is Charles Person not as talked about as Rosa parks, even though he was also involved in the same thing. Great job on the blog!!!
