Evolution of video games
Electronic games have come a long way, from 8-bit and 2D all the way to 3D and almost looking real. Most games are still getting better and evolving.
The first ever games were not too good, one of them was Bertie the Brain. It was a large game of tic tac toe and you could play it, but it didn't look too fun. It was played on a large screen. Josef Kates was the creator of this game.
Then around 8 years later, in 1958, William Higinbotham made the game Tennis for Two but according to the website Plarium, “William was a member of the team that created the first ever nuclear bomb…” Interesting fact. Tennis for Two was played on a small analog computer, players could push two buttons and hit the ball to the other side. This was essentially an early version of the game PONG. Then as the years went on the games got a bit better.
As time went on the games were more often 3D. Wolfenstein 3D was released in 1992. It was low graphics but better than a game that is 2D. This was also a good game because you could walk around instead of hitting a ball, like in PONG, but it still was low pixel. The game was about escaping a prison in WWII and fighting guards there.
Recently in 2017, Star Wars Battlefront II was released. The graphics were way better than any of the earlier games. This game is based on Star Wars. It is an FPS game and a 3rd person game. You could be multiple Jedi or Sith. This game is very realistic compared to the others.
Games are getting better every day. It has only been around sixty years and games look this realistic, They have come a long way. Games in the future will be even better. Over many years games have evolved and they are still evolving today.

I think that it is really interesting that the person who made tennis for two also helped make the nuclear bomb! Did you know that there are more than 1,181,019 video games! What is your favorite video game?
ReplyDeleteI like to play Star Wars Battle Front 2!
DeleteI liked that you started off with how games began and how games started evolving. I haven't played many videos games but sometimes I do and their really fun. Do you think that, in the future the games will be better or over the top?
ReplyDeleteThat is a good question, I think games over time will get better. Games are adding many things to make their game look almost real!
DeleteI liked how you fitted a bunch of popular games into this piece. I know it would be hard mentioning all of these great games. There are so many to choose from. I have never played Star Wars Battlefront 2 but I love the Star Wars movies. I wondered if you could mention things like game consoles if you write about this again.
ReplyDeleteThank you, That is a great idea.
DeleteI liked how you started off by telling telling the reader some of the earlier games and some of the latest types. I have played an older game and it was not very good animation at all. What was the first video game ever invented?
